Bruce a Handy Man Experienced a Fall from a Ladder
Safety and Home Maintenance
With Spring arriving in Australia, many of us are outside doing home maintenance. It only takes a split second though for a serious injury to occur.
It can be prevented through planning considering the risks when working at height. I think we sometimes give safety a lower priority when we work at home compared to a heightened awareness when completing a job at work. It is easy to think it will only take a few minutes – I’ll be ok.
“New research by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has found falls from ladders were the most frequent “Do-It-Yourself” injury during 2013-2014, with nearly 1 in 10 resulting in an “intracranial injury such as a concussion”. Falls are now the leading cause of traumatic brain injury across the developed world, due to ageing populations, and 1 in 6 Australians hospitalised for a falls-related brain injury will die.

The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons have determined that every year 500,000 people are treated for ladder-related injuries and approximately 300 of these accidents prove to be fatal. In 2007 alone, more than 400 people died as a result of falls on or from ladders or scaffolding.

Charmaine Clarke :
After my husband (Bruce is in the featured photo) had a fall from a ladder a few years ago suffering quite a substantial injury he hasn’t had the confidence to climb one since, until He found the LOCK JAW LADDER GRIP.
Knowing that his ladder cannot move he now has full confidence to climb again enabling him to carry out tasks like cleaning out gutters ect.
We highly recommend the LOCK LAW LADDER GRIP
